I need a lowering specialist local to me?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new here, please be kind to me!!

I need to find a local company that can lower my car professionally. I have just purchased a V6 Diesel Superb (04). I want the car lowered with new wheels but need to know the exact size wheels I can fit in the arches & how safely I can lower the car and what springs they suggest?

I live in Worthing West Sussex.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction?

I've been thinking about this for some time , a couple of things to consider- if you fit bigger wheels the car will be higher off of the ground whihc will **** up the geometry and may do something strange to the handling - an unknown quantity, if you then change the springs and dampers to lower it back down again it may move the suspension again with the same results also we could end up with the ride height being back where it started but with the roll centres in different places. the other concern I have is that the Superb is softly sprung - it is a very long car I wonder if the Skoda guys ended up with it this way to ensure that the body didn't get to stressed which is what we could end up with, basically what we need is a great deal more information from someone like Eibach / Koni who should have dealt with all this stuff already, what would be to me the worst case wouyld be to spend a load of money and end up with a bad handling , stiffly sprung car whch would not be a step forward. I think finding a company at all will be a challenge never mind a local one. I spoke to AMD but even they couldnt answer all these questions. Hope this helps, Im sure it can be done but its probably easy to get a package thats nearly there but difficult to get it spot on.

I have 18'' wheels and bilstein sprint / eibach suspension

regarding handling, its like comparing day to night. stock suspension is way too soft

when i had them installed, it felt like the car had grown 20cm wider.

if you travel in bad roads though, expect a small change in comfort

if I put suspension now, I'd certainly go for KW3

I'd agree, go for the KW V3 suspension. For setup, try Powerstation in Cheltenham.

I also would recomend Powerstation :thumbup:

Me too!

just looked on the kw web site - thye list the A6 and Passat but not Superb ( or any skoda am I looking in the right place??

seems like the dampers are certainly up to the job fancy tinkering with the bump and rebound - just like on my racecar!

f you fit bigger wheels the car will be higher off of the ground

Not if you do it correctly, by using a lower profile tyre which keeps the rolling radius the same the vehcile height is not altered.

would the Passat ones not be the same as they are essentially the same car.

KW for Superb

To order some, talk to Mike at Impossible Performance or Jabbasport. Get them through Jabba and get a remap done at the same time :D

Ross, I know what you mean but the Superb is already on 225/45 so there isn't far you can go is there. From memory thats why the 205/50 and the 225/45 work out the same when I had my RS.

I will have to have a look at the diffences closley between the Passat Audi and Skoda and see how the chassis differs I know the Superb is longer but not sure about the weight , ride height etc, most Passats seem to be fitted with 16" wheels as well.

Erm, was the link I posted to the KW suspension for the Superb no good then?

Re the tyres, what has it got on now? What wheel and tyre size?

Sorry, yes the link was good just been looking now,

Currently 225/45/ 17 inch ( Toyo Proxies)

To be fair I probably wouldn't change the wheels as they seem reasonable compromise. I think the KW may be the way forward if you can adjust the height if it isn 't ideal more tunability . Does Jabba do a switchable remap for the 130 diesel yet?

Just had another look - the part number for the Superb is different from the VW / Audi which are the same part no.

TSR have a heavily modded "stealth" Passat, might be worth having a chat with them also if as others have said the Superb is based on a Passat floor pan

Has anyone tried the Eibach springs/damper combination?
