288mm Front brakes swap to rear?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Im due some new brakes shortly and have been looking at upgrading to GTI 312mm front setup for a while now,

Im wondering, while im at it, can you then switch the 288mm fronts to the rear, so you have better brakes back there too?

how would your handbrake work?

No you can't do that due to the handbrake.

How much do front 312mm breakes as a complete setup cost? Any good company that can do them? Cheers.

Of you have a 2.0 TFSI scout you will have 288mm front brakes, so you just need the carriers and discs.

Carriers were around the £200 mark for a pair new last I looked and discs about £70-£100 for the pair.

You will need to be sure of your wheels clearing the carriers in their new position however.

I didn't realise the Scout was available with that engine... That would be an interesting car

The 312mm brake setup is well worth while, I've just upgraded mine to 312mm, I kept the OEM 312mm discs but upgraded the pads to Tarox Strada's and the stopping power is amazing.

Well Worth the upgrade

It might not be in the UK, I didn't check.

By the way, if it was me I'd avoid the OEM pads, made by JURID.

They are like chocolate compared to the EBC redstuff ceramics I was running before.
