Was wondering when the ASZ and BLT engines were used.

I have an ASZ engine in my registered June 2005 MK 1 Fabia VRS.

Unable to locate any info using 'Search' facility, as most searches I do, lead no-where relevant (call me Jonah)LOL

I did read the BLT engine had a stutter and thought it arrived before the ASZ engine, and were a reason it was dropped??

Would someone give me a run down, as to when each engine were fitted in the MK1 Fabia VRS,please.

The BLT came after the ASZ, late in 2005. So, all Fabia vRSes built before then had the ASZ, and all built after had the BLT.

The reason for the "'06 stutter" was to do with a gasket in the EGR line, which was fitted to meet the Euro 4 emissions standards, and could be replaced or drilled out to cure the stutter (Clicky Linky).

For some reason, BLT engines seem to produce a bit more power in standard tune than ASZs (although both tend to produce more than 130bhp, anyway). I don't think there's so much in it once they're tuned, so this suggests that the increase in power for the BLTs over the ASZs is down to the engine management firmware, rather than any mechanical changes. I'm sure someone with more knowledge could confirm or deny this last bit, however!

BLT Sept 2005 on. ASV changed to a throttle body style arrangement. Good for 10% more power as standard.

My 2007 vRS is showing considerably better economy than my 2004 vRS - according to the computer. However I'm reserving judgement until I've run through a tank and can check brim to brim figures. I can't believe a cross-country trip of 94 miles resulted in 76mpg...

Just found this:

Is that thus the date of the BLT engine introduction? The exact date?
