Our fabia 2002 1,4MPI has so far worked exellent! but... Now has the speedometer failed no speed and no distance. After some 50km it starts to work again, but as fast as we stop and turn the engine off it´s completly dead again! Is it sensor or in the panel meter and where is the sensor located?

If it has ABS the signal comes from the ABS control unit. If no ABS, sensor is located on pinion casing of gearbox. Three different types depending on gearbox code.

Thanks! Yes my fabia has ABS. As i understand all four wheel sensors are used to calculate road speed. And if one or more of these sensors failed to work an alarm signal shows. The fault may then be in the control unit. Is signal send by CAN bus?
