Driver's door only locks/unlocks with key

Bit of advice needed please...

Today, the drivers door on my 2003 TDi Estate has stopped locking and unlocking with the remote, it will however lock/unlock if I use the key... Before I rush to a garage to get it fixed (it's due its 80k service anyway) does anyone know what's likely to the problem, and approximate cost to fix?

I'm assuming the door lock itself is OK as it still works, just not with the remote?

Water in electric window motor till you take it apart you wont know how much damage has been done. I've got same problem, couple of snapped pins in mine, i'll keep using the key till i've some spare dosh to change it. Nothing too worry about fairly common problem. Try a search for a tips on a fix. sounds like your remote fob battery is on the way out.

mine did the same few months ago,pressing the fob and nothing,put key in door and the car unlocks.....£5 max fix for new battery
