Anyone else having Alarm problems?

Featured Replies

Just curious if anyone else is having their Yetis alarm going off for no apparent reason?

I know I can disable it, but that's not really the point, but it's due for a service soon, so if I can't figure out what the problem is, I'll get it looked at then.

Mine has gone off 4 times in 5 months but interestingly never in the garage at home where it spends much more time than on the road. I assume that it is sensitivity to wind but am "happy" to leave sensitivity setting as it is.

Had mine go of a few times out of the blue, one on occasion the culprit appeared to be a very small moth fluttering about in front of the roof mounted interior sensor.

You can apparently get the dealer to adjust the sensitivity.

Hi had mine go off a few times my dealer scanned it but found no problems so i had the sensitivity turned down to medium and it been fine since

Just had a quick chat with Kitten about the yeti Elegance we're getting and she's under the impression that there is no immobiliser as part of the alarm system.

Can someone confirm them=t the SM DOES have a Thatcham class 1 immobiliser fitted??? :dull:

Hi,

My yeti alarm has gone off 3 times since last December for no apparent reason. It beeps " feebly " to put it mildly, for a few seconds then stops , presumably to re-set itself, then goes off again , repeating the cycle till I zap it then it stops permanently. Don't know why, it's not been windy or interfered with.

I will mention it to the dealer when it gets first service.

Apart from the inconvenience of it ' falsing ' my main concern is how weak and feeble the alarm sounds. It wouldn't scare off my nervous granny or attract anyones attention either. Let's hope no villains know what I've just revealed or it'll be top of their list .

Thanks for the responses. I'll have it looked at during the service and if nothing else is obvious, get the sensitivity turned down.

Ah, the benefits of being part of the VW group. So far the Yeti has been OK (at least no-one has complained!) but my wife's first Beetle used to go off in the rain. The cabriolet she had afterwards - which you might expect to be sensitive with the fabric roof - was fine. Prior to that, both her Mk.4 Golf and my Passat B5 also had spurious alarm problems. Back to the dealer I think.

My Octy II used to go off on ferries - took me a while to figure out how to disable it with the hidden buttons on the B-pillar. It throughly ticked off a horse in a trailer once - parked just in front on the ferry to Puttgatrten in Germany. Both horse and it's owner were quite excited.

No alarms on the Yeti Ambition, so no problems there.

Many thanks,

Got it booked in for a service next week and advised them about the alarm issues, so I will follow up with a question about this tech bulletin.
