Fun Pickup Engine

Featured Replies

Hi there, i've had my pickup for about 3 months and its just died, it needs a new engine, I can't afford a brand new engine, so what the best plan? Can I put a diesel engine in it?

It'll be alot of work, changing the engine, fuel system and wiring. It'll be less work and expense to source a used 1.6 petrol engine, the engine code that you will need is AEE.

Should be a fair few about and cant imagine them being expensive.

Whats gone wrong?

There was a serious no oil situation, my own stupid fault for not checking before a long trip, which makes it all the more annoying, no one to blame.

Is it a big job to swap the engine if I can get hold of one? Sorry I'm going to have to play the" rubbish girl who know nothing about these things" card.

think iv got a big problem going on with mine !! someone has offered me a polo 1.4 do you know if this would go in and be ok ?

not really, a competent mechanic can easily do it inside 1 day, the trouble is if you have to pay somebody to do it the cost of the labour is more than the value of the whole car..
