Alloy Wheel Brush Recommendations

I had one of those cheap red handled brushes with the black loop around bristles, but it broke - so I thought maybe I was being a little too harsh on the little fellow, so I went out and bought another one.. and within a month it too broke..

So I was wondering - Is anyone else having similar issues? or am I too heavy handed when it comes to cleaning alloys?

Can anyone recommend me a decent brush which can get behind the alloys and in between the brake discs and alloy (as I've already trapped my hand twice in there, and it's illegal to make my son do it :wonder: despite him having small hands..)

I have been looking around, but all of them same of similar design, and so I would think they suffer from the same early demise, or they are large toilet type brushes which wouldn't appear to fit in all the nooks and cranny's.

What do you use / swear by when it comes to removing brake dust and crud from your wheels?

OMG get yourself another microfibre mit man!!! Give those wheels some love. To get behind them take them off and clean them properly

Firstly in order to remove all the cr4p on your wheels they will need to be removed, fully cleaned and then sealed, this will make cleaning a lot easier in the future.

Then I would invest in the EZ Wheel Brush, this has memory bristle so once they distort just put it back in hot water and they are as good as new, it has a flexible centre shaft allowing you to bend it as you choose, also it's light and really is the best one I have used.

(There is also a Mini EZ Wheel Brush available as well, stock on both of these is always tough as they sell like hot cakes)

The other alternative is the Daytona version which has a stiffer centre shaft but I have had my EZ Wheel Brush for over 2 years now with no problems, don't be hard on it and it will look after you.......... :thumbup:

Yep, as above - I use an EZ to get right into the spokes, then a separate 'noodle' microfibre for the alloy face.

I got one too (larger).. . very nice to use. it does the job

It is part of the design but like I said at the beginning it's also down to how clean your wheels are and also the end user applying too much pressure which isn't needed, hence the suggestion of the Daytona Brush.......... :thumbup:

& those types are about half the price on ebay.

I now use a 'Raceglaze' wheel brush, as recommended by Auto Express.

Both the handle and the brush are longer than the cheapies, and therefore reach right inside the wheel itself,

cleaning both the bit you see and the bit you don't. It's strong and well made.

I went online and got it direct from Raceglaze after the AE praise.
