Ibiza Mk 4 Gearbox Noise

Featured Replies

Dropped car off at Willoughbys today in Nottingham to see if they can fix this noise, a problem I've had for some 8 weeks and numerous threads on SE and Cupranet. After two new gearboxes and whole clutch assy including flywheel it wasn't fixed by a certain branch. The selling dealer asked if I would like to take it to an independant, pure Seat Dealer for the old 'fresh set of eyes' routine. The Master Tech test drove it with me as pasenger and guess what! "It sounds like a gearbox to me sir" Who do Seat get to rework thier gearboxes? I can't repeat how I'm feeling here but Im sure you guys Know. Anyway I've spoken to Seat UK and there is clearly a fault here. The Master Tech mentioned a revised oil to SEAT UK on VAG gearboxes ( I think I've read about this on Briskoda) apparently he will speak to Seat Tech for the way forward. Oh to have my car back fully working

That will be the oil I mentioned to you.

Yeh thanks for that Ross - I thought I would let the dealers decide on the best course of action: hence the second gearbox as they couldn't adjust the linkage for the 3rd gear problem. The second gearbox cured this additional fault but still left with the initial noise at idle. Never mind it's all under warranty so they can keep the car until fixed.

I know this is an old thread but please could you let me have details of the oil - if it is a revision to quieten down the transmission. My Fabia PD100 has a bit of transmission noise at tickover and very low speed.

Thanks
