rear camber

Featured Replies

Following my coming together with a kerb the other week, I had my car fully tracked by one of these places with a camera-based system rather than the usual laser systems. It prints a "before" and "after" of the results for all of the usual figures, with +/- specs.

My rear camber on the offside is well out of spec (and that's not the wheel I hit either!) it leans in too much at the top. They told me it's not adjustable. This leads me to think then that something must be bent for it to be that far out. I can update with the exact figures later.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Martin

I've known of a police car that hit a kerb in the same fashion and bent the axle, leading to a similar appearance. As far as I know it's not adjustable, but I'm happy to be corrected :)

I don't think the rear camber is adjustable on any Mk1 Octy as standard. Awesome sell a rear tie bar kit to allow camber adjustment but it only fits models with fully independent rear suspension, i.e. the 1.8T 4x4 Octy and the 4x4 diesel Octy. Sounds like you may have bumped or twisted something to have got it like that... or put something massively heavy in the boot?

You can buy shims to slightly adjust the rear camber on the FWD A4 platform cars, but if it's way out then you're probably best off replacing the beam with a less bendy one!

There must be hundreds knocking about in scrappies, just a case of finding a straight one, and knowing what dimensions a straight one should have.

Check the rear springs and dampers too for damage. The rear suspension is super simple, so should be easy to diagnose and repair.
