I'm new round here. I may be in the wrong board.

Like a wassock I posted about New Octy on the Octy board with this,so got ignored.

I've bought a new Octy 1.9 TDI and the dealer tells me that if I have a tow bar fitted the electrics will cause havoc with the car electrics and computer.

He says Skoda know about it but are doing nothing.

This sounds incredible to me. The car is Spanish not UK spec .

If anyone has any info I will be very grateful. How useful is it trying to contact Skoda national HQs or Skoda factory. Do they just ignore most letters or E-mails

like other car makers ?

A tow bar is very important to me and I did not ask before I bought. I wonder if I would have been told anyway.

Skoda customer services have been very helpful on the one occasion I rang them so definitely worth a try. It seems a bit far fetched that you can't fit a tow bar to a family car which is so capable of towing and probably bought to tow! Let us know how you get on

hope you get it sorted out - sound s worrying -if you were given the right information.

IBefore I got mine I spoke to several dealers and certainly some are not keen on getting involved with towbar fitting -one said "my blokes hate fitting them"

Can agree with chris about customer services have had no problems in the past when dealing with them

but theres a good chance someone on here may know more about the towbar situation

Think I'd try an approved towbar fitter.

Try Witter , look for a local fitting center.

Look for an NTTA Quality Secured Accredited Towbar Centre.
