Air Con Service

Featured Replies

Just reading an intersting thread. My car's going in for it's 40k service/MOT etc. What sort of money should you be paying for an aircon service, can you get them done at dealers and specialists.

I just don't want to ruin the aircon on my car!

£49 at Kwik Fit. Fully automated process by a machine, so no spanner monkeys needed.

Not a fan of Kwik Fit!

So does that top up oil/gas and clean the bad smells away?

+1 for kwik fit.

The machine tests the system for leaks etc, if any are found it's disconnected and no charge. It replaces all gas and oil. Mine went down to about 4 or 5 deg when tested afterwards.

The bad smells are likely to be the pollen filter. Simple to check and replace yourself.

That's covered in the 40k service though isn't it?

charlie browns :thumbup:they check for leaks oil and regas same price as kwik **** :wonder:

prob best taking it to Skoda

there's certain limits etc,

air con places could over pressurise system and blow seals etc

Aircon recharge is absolutely the only job you should be using Kwik fit for. Its all dont by machine so theres hardly any user input involved other than chosing make and model of car and fitting the cables.

Im waiting till it goes down to £25 in the winter months though.

I believe Skoda dealers charge £60 for servicing the aircon, which (I think - I could be wrong) includes a disinfect/clean.
