One less UK Yeti competitor

Poor Renault. No-one likes an ugly car and with the hideous Laguna and Meganes in their line-up they thought lets make money launching a Korean built soft-roader in 2008. The Koleos was born. It was alas also pig ugly. And now after selling only 2,875 since 2008 they are axing it. Now can Renault can you please also axe the Laguna. They hurt my eyes when I have to look at their bug eyed noses.

Not a true Renault , a Samsung SM (5) ? A joint Samsung Renault venture.

Stewart.

Renault have lost their way since the heady days of the original Scenic and Clio. They need to get a decent designer and regain their position in the industry. They need to look at how their French cousins at Citroen have re-invented themselves and do the same.

Sadly the Missus doesn't like the look of the Yeti.

However, her taste is in question since she likes the arse end of a Megane plus she drives a Warrior-spec Outlander, which from the front looks like it has just run over a moose*. If only they'd had the forethought to call it the Mitsubishi Moose...

Edit:

*For the record, me driving it into a large boulder the week after she got it didn't help its looks (or my favour with the Missus). In my defence, the forward visibility is poor and the rock was almost certainly at fault. Somehow. It was perhaps put there by a vengeful moose.

I don't think Moose conveys the image they want, when many are bought by rufty-tufty types. Hence names like Warrior, Invincible, Animal etc... :dull:

I don't think a new designer will do Renault any favours, their engineers seems to have lost their way slightly.

Early to mid 90s Renaults where pretty good but since 1998 they seem to have declined somewhat.

Credit where it is due though. The Renaultsport hot hatches are always rated at the top of their class and, whilst the Laguna hatch is truly unpleasant to behold, the coupe is a very fine looking thing.

Has anyone seen that new Renault Wind though? It is revolting.....

Yep, it looks awful. Just as bad as the old Ford Streetka. When I get in the MX-5 it feels special since it is very low and your legs point straight forward. When I got into a Streetka once at a motor show you sat as upright as in a regular Ka with a regular Ka dash to boot. Awful. At least the Wind has its own bespoke dash, but I suspect the driving position will be pure Clio.

Good riddance to bad rubbish I say :D

We all know the Yeti is LEAGUES better anyhow :giggle:

Apparently it's due to the recession. Someone had better tell Skoda, who sold more Yetis in 9 months than Renault managed to shift of the Koleos in over two years.
