VRS Central locking problem

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The central locking on my 53 plate VRS started to play up yesterday:

First press on the unlock button: unlocks driver's door as usual.

Second press on the unlock button: unlocks the rest of the doors (as usual) but not the boot.

The boot will open if the car is currently locked and I use the boot-only unlock button. I can then open the rest of the car by pressing the unlock button twice, but the boot locks again when I shut it.

The courtesy lights are also not working any more - they don't come on when I open the door, or when I try to turn them on manually. Similarly, the red lights on the bottom of the doors are no longer working when I open them.

From looking at previous posts on this site it sounds like a problem with the door lock (probably the microswitch).

So, my question is, does that sound like the right diagnosis, and am I better off taking it to a dealer to get fixed (my nearest seems to be Blades Skoda in Bristol), or going to my usual local garage where I get the car serviced (or maybe try and find an independent VAG specialist) and telling them what I think the problem is?

Cheers,

Ian

Comfort control module.

ive had a similar problem with mine. Mine is when i lock the car i can still open the rear doors, it then sounds the alarm i checked the fuses-ok checked supply voltage-ok thought must be both rear door locks faulty? swapped a door lock from another fabia that does work and tried on mine still doesnt work yet my lock worked on the other fabia. so ruled out it being my door locks thinking its my convience module faulty now.

I've seen several references to the "Comfort Control Module" recently - out of interest where is it?

sounds like the micro switch, dead simple to remove lock, use it quite a few time (wear off any corrosion) and give a blast with some wd40, well that worked for me.

Thanks for the responses.

Think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take it down to a dealer for a proper diagnosis, but at least I'll have a few ideas now of what they should be coming back to tell me.

Cheers,

Ian

Just to finish off the tale - took the car into a local auto-electrician who diagnosed the fault as a short circuit somewhere behind the dashboard (they didn't say where) which was blowing the fuse that the various failing components run off. Three hours labour to diagnose and fix (including taking the dash off) but it's working fine again now.

Cheers,

Ian
