Retrofit satnav

Featured Replies

Has anyone used OEMretrofits? Website gives price for MFD3/RN 510 Columbus £600 supplied and fitted. Seems good deal.

Has been done many times by individuals on here, very easy to do but a quick search should show up more detail for you.

Not heard of the company you mention though!

I know some on here have used them. Seemed fine IIRC. That's a pretty good price all-in to be fair, but the installation itself is really no more difficult than just swapping your old unit for the Columbus, plus finding a good place for the GPS antenna that gives a decent yield of satellites. Usually the bar behind the stereo location is a good a place as any.

Maybe see if they offer a unit-only price?

Only thing i can see that i'd think about is they only give a 3 month warranty which seems stingy, and they don't take credit cards, so you can't even use that to give yourself a guarantee of some sort. A 4 month old £600 brick would be pretty rare i'd think though.

I'm sure others on here have got them far cheaper from the same place. As said - do the search. They are also under prime prestige.

Thanks I'll do a search. I think oemretro charge £50 for fitting.

In their FAQs they do say that their sat nav units are 2nd User.

i would fit it yourself only takes 10mins.

It has been stated before on this forum, but chances are that the 2nd hand unit you will buy for that amount of money, has originally been stolen. Why would anyone sell his satnav that has costed so much money? On a dutch site (skodaforum.nl), you can see horrific photos of how owners found their cars partially demolished just to lay hands on the satnav. The same satnavs who are then sold for low prices in other countries...

Hi

Used them before and no problems, couple of nice guys

Good customer service and they know most of they're stuff

Although they did say they could get my parking sensors working with the unit but they could not in the end, which I had figured out from reading post here LOL.

Also noticed they are offering loads more services on they're site now

Hope that helps

  • 2 weeks later...

Had a Columbus retro fitted by these huys.

They are refurbished units hence the price.

The lads are very good at what they do and do give you a full receipt.

Had mine in a few weeks now and no problems and all extras in car were coded and no problems there.

I found cheaper units in ebay but not having VCDS thought best have it fitted and coded.

The local dealer also did a fault hunt when I went in to check on a paint issue and all came back fine as well.

Will be looking at getting bluetooth added soon....
