Can you retrofit a glove compartment door

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My wife wants to get rid of our Octavia 1.9tdi and buy a Furby 1.4 tdi ... the ones we are looking at are all pauper spec, and altho decent inside, the lack of doors on the 2 glove compartments is putting me off a bit. Does anyone know if you can retrofit doors and if so where the parts can be sourced from (hopefully other than a stealer)

Cheers in advance for any words of wisdom.

I'd think you'd fit the whole glovebox and other than a dealer, I'd think it's going to be a scrap yard.

I seem to remember someone posting that just the upper glovebox lid costs over £75 from a dealer....

Go for the Fabia level 2. If it's the 1.4TDI you are looking at, you will be buying secondhand (unless you are lucky enough to find a dealer with a new one still) and although they hold their value incredibly well, by shopping around you find one to meet your budget. The two has considerable extras that you will welcome. The Fabia leve 1 is a good car but a bit too basic for many.

Unfortunately in Northern Ireland we have far fewer skoda dealers than mainland England so our choices are limited. The car we are looking at is an English registered 1yo Fabia 1 1.4TDI 80, which i do agree is very basic even compared to our octy classic, but this is what my missus wants so .......... emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

£75 for an upper glove box lid sounds expensive since trhe lower glove box lid is £40 optional extra fitted, but I don't know what you're getting exactly for £75

I would like to know too whether you can order the parts to fit a lower glove box lid and fit it.

Sorry martz, forgot to answer the basic question in my earlier post. The answer is I believe 'No'. The dash is different and doesn't allow the glovebox lid to be retro fitted.

i asked my local dealer and they said it cannot be retro fitted as it would need a new dash board. we need someone to come up with a diy solution

Retrofit the under seat drawers??

now that could be a thought ....... there's plenty of storage in the car, just none of it covered, and i'd hate for some roaming tea-leaf to spot my Justin Bieber collection and make off with it!
