"Trade in" tyres

Featured Replies

Octy 1 vRS being traded in in the next couple of months, but I need some rear tyres before then. (205/50R17 93W)

The cheapest one I've heard of is still coming out ~ £100 per tyre.

What "cheap" tyre would you go for?

Thanks

£100 a tyre! You can't be looking very hard. Have a look on mytyres, camskill etc.

you misunderstand (but thanks for the reply)

I can find lots of tyres under £100, but none that I recognise the names of. In the past I've stuck with brands I know, but it seems a waste spending that much on 2 throw-away tyres.

So I'm looking for recomendations for cheap tyres on the basis I'll only cover a couple of thousand miles max

Kumhos are usually pretty cheap, about £60-70 each on Camskills last time I looked

I fit were me I would chuck some part worns on, or some ditchfinders but be careful in the wet lol

Ditchfinders can be had for about £45 each fitted

Care to mention brands to "steer" me away from the ditchfinders?

The bloke who I bought my car off did the same thing, he fitted Nexen tyres to the front, they are ****e but I wouldn't say they are dangerous. They also don't seem to be wearing out  I'm going to stick some good rubber on them when they do wear out though.

the cheap tyres dont wear out which is why they dont grip!

+1

why buy new for a couple of months. how about using your spare too?

ebay sell loads of part worn tyres or you may have a local place that supplies and fits. Will save you 25 to 75% depending upon tread depth, brands, etc

I just put 4 of these on my car about a month ago & very pleased with them.

Jesus they have gone down, they about £30 more when I checked about 6 weeks ago.

Good price

Part worns are deffo the way to go, can be picked up for as little as £25 fitted, plus half decent brands. Just that they only have a few thousand miles left which is why they are cheap, but then thats exactly what you want.
