Where are we at with modding the FL TSI?

Featured Replies

I've seen the talk of the Stage 1 maps for the TSI engine and also noted JKM's efforts with their new Octavia but what is the best that has been gained from the FL TSI Octavia and what with?

Also, what is the availability like for other mods like CAIs, exhausts, dampers/coilovers, ARBs, anti-lift kits, KO4-like turbos etc?

Lastly, what hardware do we know can be transferred from the TFSI to the FL TSI?

Given the spaceship miles that I do, I may have to donate my TFSI to SWMBO in the not too distant future and would love to stick with the Octavia VRS and the modding hobby and bring a few items of hardware with me :D

I think that transferring any engine hardware will be none existent.

Suspension, wheels and other sundries should be re-usable but I think that's about it at the moment.

K04 is available to fit now. Almost a straight fit on. Just no one in the UK is doing the software for it. Guys in the US have seen 350bhp from it so far.

Most of the engine stuff is different to the FSi. Gearbox is the same iirc.

All the suspension, brakes etc is the same as the Pre FL.

Thanks guys, it looks like there ain't a lot available until a decent downpipe / flange becomes readily available and the software comes across from the US

If all the suspension/braking is the same, I assume a WALK, and RARB could be transferred over from a pre-FL VRS (in addition to my new brakes :smirk: ).

I'm not sure about my Twintercooler even if the stock intercoolers share the same part number as it's the pipework and mounting that could make the difference.

Blueflame and someone else have an off the shelf one ready to go for the TSi already, but they're more expensive than the local exhaust place.

Yeah i checked this out on ETKA, same part numbers pre vs. post facelift.

Going by your sig, most of the bits will swap over. You can use your exhaust system by elongating the top two holes. The WALK, suspension and roll bar will swap over. Cooler will prob fit, but may need a few mods to get it on. Brakes will also fit on.

Now that revo have their own mk6 golf gti they are revising the stage 1 file and then working on a stage 2.

Cheers Alex

You mean grind-out elongated holes to take the top two (of the three) studs at the manifold? Just wondering as VRSy suggests that the DPs are exactly the same in the linked thread above.

the info in the linked thread was from steveP on the GTI forum.

Ah OK, I'll keep an eye on things for a while both on the hardware and remapping side of things. There was a genuine reason for asking as I am doing space ship miles on my Octy and may have to get something else sooner than I though. I've been so happy with the VRS that I would like to get a FL when I have some money next year...but with £££s of mods on mine, I'd like to transfer what I can over.....or I use the money for a KO4 and run it 'till it goes bang!
