Whistle noise when accelerating? Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Thanks for the info.

As I don't really know what i'm doing, or have any spare time, i might take it to the garage and get them to have a look at the intercooler pipes. I'll report back

All turbo pipes zip-tied this morning. Pulls like a train now!!!! :D

Was it the intercooler pipes by the front drivers side wheel?

I'm also interessed in this. My fabia as a sound to but only when driving it, not when the car is stop with accelerating.... I chek the top pipes, and nothing, maybe under but we can sow anything!!

is it normal to have a quiet whistle at idle also?

Premature celebrations i'm afraid, based on one test run!! It's better but still makes the noise and looses a bit of power around 2- 2.5k rpm. I'm not really sure which bit of the system is leaking but a full set of replacement OE hoses is £350 (just for the parts). I think it's firmly established that these are gash though(the exact words of the guy at the garage were "the guy who designed those wants shooting") Sooo, I'm looking around for some other options.

There's a guy on here who does a stainless top pipe

and there're hoses by sfs and samco but these are pricey, and seemingly the SFS ones have design issues:

ideally i'd like to replace the lot, so if any one has any suggestions or has any of the above i'd be grateful to know their opinion.

I've noticed my car has a quiet whistle at idle. You can't hear it from inside, but it's noticeable enough from the outside that a few people have mentioned it. Is it normal?

iirc it's normal, a blip of the throttle will clear for a bit.

Yep, already tried messing with throttle etc to see what happens and it does go away for a bit, so that's definitely it. Thanks for putting my mind at rest :)
