Hi folks

Hi fellow Yeti lovers, as I've just spent the last couple of hours trawling around the Yeti section I thought it only right and proper to sign up :)

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my "snow monster" which I have been assured will be available for collection no later than October 4th.

I've ordered a 2.0l TDI 140bhp 4x4 with SE trim in Steel Grey. I quite fancied Storm Blue but the dealers didn't have one to view in that colour while they did have one in the grey. The missus said she liked the grey so, as I'd made the decision about which spec we we're getting, I thought it only fair to let her have a say on the colour. I know I'm too soft with her

It was actually nice to search about in the photos thread and see some pics of cars in our colour choice as the one we did see still had some of that protective white tape attached and is also rapidly becoming a distant memory.

Is it just me or are Yetis really as shy as their namesakes? Last week my wife, son and I drove all the way down to Woolacombe, North Devon from our home in Rotherham (280 miles) and, when we set off, as a bit of entertainment, I said "ok then first one to spot a Yeti". Well 51/2 hours later we pulled up at our hotel and we'd failed to spot a single one of the elusive beggars!! I did win the game, however, as after unpacking I nipped outside for a well-earned coffee/ciggie break and a bright red one cruised by. We played the same game on the return journey and all came up empty handed again. I expect some inquisitive looks when I eventually take delivery of this rarest of beasts.

Oh, by the way, I currently drive a W reg Octavia 2.0l SLXi H/B in silver which has been a great servant for the past 6 years. I never tire of showing folk how humongous the boot is :D At least I know she, "Octavia", is going to a good home and I'll still get to see her from time to time :'( as my brother-in-law is taking her off my hands when the Yeti comes out of hiding.

Right that's enough of my rambling for now. Nice site by the way. As a famous Californian politician once said "I'll be back!"

Speak for yourself George, I've got a certificate that says I'm not anymore (well I think that's what it says)

Stron, I hope you don't mind me tagging onto your intro with mine.

I am looking at ordering a 140CR DSG Elegance in Muscovado / Gobi. I'd like to order a sunroof but I gather that may mean an excessive wait... ah well will have to content myself to just adding the tyre pressure monitor.

My current car is a somewhat tasteless white BMW 320i Convertable, a very competent but rather unlovable thing. Switching from a convertable to a Crossover / SUV is something of a jump but I've been hooked by the chunky good looks of the Yeti. Plus my wife is from Czech; she is very proud of her heritage and I may even get some brownie points from the in-laws!

Great to read all your insights.

Welcome Yellowyeller

Brownie points...go for it. I swapped my M-B 230 SLK for our Steel Grey Yeti. The yeti is even more of a head-turner and far more rare.

John

PS I was out with a couple of mates last night for a Friday night beer and felt I had to drink authentic Czech Budvar. Will I score even more brownie pints?
