car supermarkets

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying an Octavia 2.0 diesel (Elagance) but there is little discount offered in my area. The quotes from the internet supermarkets seem very good but are there many pitfalls and has anyone any recommendations?

Can get some excellent deals from them but there are plenty of pitfalls for those that don't check properly what they are buying. Try getting something like What Car (or there were some magazines around that specifically dealt with imports / supermarkets etc) as you then should have full details on what to look for.

I got my wife's car from Motorhouse 2000 and they were fine - although the buying experience is very curt and sharp (no fancy handover & flowers there!). The best bit of advice I would give is to do full research on what EXACT spec you will be getting and compare it against the best price from a variety of dealers. Lots of supermarkets import cars so spec can vary dramatically and warranty is likely to be less etc (you need to factor that in as to whether you are actually getting a decent deal) . Good luck

There are discounts to be had out there, shop around my local dealer was quoting RRP only and wouldn't move, so I ended up buying from a dealer 50 Miles away whose opening line was to knock

I bought both ours from Supermarkets.

The Fabia was from Motorhouse 2000 and the Octavia was from Direct Cars.

Both are UK sourced cars so have no problems with warranty, servicing or future trade in price. Compared to best deal at Main Dealers I saved

There are certainly some excellent bargains to be had at the Supermarkets, if you're not too choosy about the spec (i.e. you don't want shedloads of optional extras). The only thing that stops me doing it is that I think it's easier to lean on a dealer when you've bought the car from him. However Lee's experiences would seem to prove me wrong - Go for it!

Hopefully more carefully than I type!

www.drivethedeal.com seem to be good and checkout www.autoebid. I challenged my local dealer with there prices and he matched the lowest. ie
