Which downpipe/decat/other pre MAP mods?

Featured Replies

I should be getting round to fitting my piper cat back this weekend but before I pootle off for a remap I wouldn't mind replacing the downpipe with a decat.

Any ideas which ones should be a direct replacement? Seen the Piper and Blueflame ones.

Anyone have any experience of these?

Also can anyone direct me where to buy the Forge 007p and N75???

Cheers

Craig

Try Awesome for DV and N75. You might be better getting Piper decat to match your system then you know it's going to be a good fit, fitting bits from different manufacturers can sometimes be a right pain in the ass.

i fitted an un silenced de cat downpipe of off ebay and it was spot on, sounded superb aswell. but due to not having a nice mot man i had to have a 200 cel sports cat welded in! still saved me £150 on buying a miltek one though

i know blueflame do a de cat but i dont no how much but awesome sell them aswell

I have a decat pipe that my blueflame cat back system is attached to (ebay one piece decat/downpipe for a Golf Mk4 1.8t). The only thing to look out for with mixing systems to downpipes is that some use a link pipe between the cat back and the downpipe to get the length correct. These link pipes normally come with all cat back systems(did with my blueflame) as you may find the length too short to join system to downpipe.

Cheers for all the replies.

Makes sense to go for the Piper decat if there is a possibility that the system may not mate up.

AS for the DV and N75 I'll give Awesome a shout today

And as for the fuel, yes, I'm still using pauper spec fuel but when I remap it I'll probably do so on Tesco 99ron then run on that

why you need an n75??

Any pics of the piper exhaust or weblinks as i may be changing my exhaust soon.

Awesomes branded Forge 007P is the cheapest place you'll get it at the moment, about £20 cheaper than buying them from Forge IIRC.

For the N75 I would just get a standard one from your local dealership or TPS. The Awesome ones are an ECS race N75 valve. As Clive said above you shouldn't need to change the N75 valve unless there is a problem with it and how it works with the remap.

PM GarryC, he designed it when he worked for Piper and has it fitted to his car

Try Forge directly and mention Briskoda, you may be surprised B)

Go for a compbrake DV, only £45 inc postage off ebay. They look good quality and come with 2 springs just like the forge ones rk696 has one aswell as me and we both can't really fault them

I like that, looks like my old miltek rear box. What is the sound like.

Thank you! I did see a Miltek one with twin rear but thought they were discontinued as I couldn't find one anywhere!

Difficult to describe the sound. It only has the rear silencer so it's a lot "burblier" on tickover but quite throaty when accelerating! I like it a lot :D
