Why is BMW 320D Eff. Dyn. performance so good?

You can't moan about those two if you want the best economy that the eD model can produce :)

Both help to reduce drag. The wheels being the single biggest factor really. They're non-runflat and the tread pattern is designed with low rolling friction in mind.

Would be a great company car choice, but I'd easily look elsewhere with my own money, even if does mean loosing some MPG.

An amazing peice of engineering and if I had to have a dieself I would have to think about it but the company car tax is harmed by the high P11D value buying price although only 13% CO2.

Sure you are right about the acceleration due to rear wheel drive as you see in touring car all the time with the rear wheel drives moving off better in first gear.

Still convinced I was right to go for the 1.8 TSI DSG L&K in my circumstance ie buying with my own money, well within £500 a month allowance and getting a company fuel card for business and private mileage.

You can on the 3er, just not the 1er.

I was in looking at a 3er touring recently.

Erm, no you can't.

Not on a new E91 anyway - there isn't a spare wheel well for a start.

You can on the E46 (like the one I had before my Octy), but the new model came in 2005, so unless you want an old 3er, no spare wheel.

Well that's true, and kinda not true ;)

The current lineup is E90/1/2/3 (saloon, touring, coupe and convertible respectively)

On my Dad's 91 Touring, there is the possibility to swap the under-boot storage area for a foam outline and pop a spacesaver in there. One from an E46 would fit for example. This is because in some territories it's law to carry a physical spare (I forget exactly where!)

So it is possible, but yet another retrofit to do what the UK dealers say isn't possible.

I can't speak for the other variants, but it's certainly do-able in the current Touring.

No it's his own. :giggle:

I'll love that as he keeps banging on about how good it is

I was in the dealer this month and saw one in the boot of the 3er touring. So unless I am seeing things then obviously you can at least get it as an option.
