Another one ordered - a few questions

Featured Replies

Hi Yeti owners, I've been watching the forum for a few weeks since we started considering a Yeti. This is my first post.

Pleased to report having read various great reviews, much on these forums and test driven 10+ cars including 3 Yetis we ordered a 2.0 140bhp 4x4 Elegance with Muscovado paint and Gobi interior yesterday! So now we start our (20 week?) wait. Just hope it arrives before any snow does! We're part-exchanging a 4.5 yr old Octavia which has been great, but we're expecting the Yeti to be much more fun.

Couple of questions from you experts if I may:

I hope there are some dog owners on here as I wondered if anyone could recommend dog guards and/or boot liners. There seem to be some good third-party dog guards available. Anyone had success fitting one in a Yeti? We've opted for the spare wheel so the official boot-tray won't work (will it?) and looks rather expensive for what it is anyway. Anyone got one with a flap that folds out over the top of the rear bumper to keep it clean?

My other question was regarding bluetooth pairing as the dealer suggested not all bluetooth enable phones will 'pair'. Is there a list anywhere of ones that work / don't work as my wife is just about to buy a new phone?

Thanks in advance for any answers,

Best, matmos (West Sussex)

Hi there and welcome...

As to dog guards look at this thread: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/169677-dog-guardluggage-guard/

I have been quoted £75 plus VAT to fit the £104 Skoda one. So it is a pricey bit of kit.

As to phones there used to be a list printed in the older brochures. The new one does not have this list as it was pretty outdated and did not even list things like the iPhone which works perfectly well.

Here is that list from the April 2010 brochure:

Mobile phones compatible with the Yeti Bluetooth® system:

Please refer to www.skoda.co.uk or your local Retailer for a list of all compatible phones some of which have restricted functionality.

Don't know anything about Dog Guards I'm afraid but I do know that there are some phones, not on the official list, that work fine with the Yeti bluetooth phone prep.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 which works perfectly.

We have the Skoda dog guard at £104, when I ordered the car at the same time the dealer offered to fit it for free, which he did.It involves drilling 4 holes I believe to fit the threaded brackets, but once fitted it is easily removed by undoing 4 knobs. We are pleased with it, but don't think we would have paid £75 fitting charge!

It may be worth checking whether you will get the 16 inch spare, or the skinny one which one member says has replaced it. If it is a skinny one there will I imagine be a drop in the boot floor level. We have the 16" spare, and as you say the floor is level with the lip. Jessica

Hi Matmos,

You've made a wise decision in choosing a Yeti!

I have a couple of Siberian Huskies, no dog guard, but I have one of these in my Yeti :http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Waterproof-Car-Boot-Liner-Perfect-for-Farmers-4x4s_W0QQitemZ290462082646QQcategoryZ36678QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BIEW%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D290448757681%252B290448757681%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6364439681452102983

Order a size medium, its a good fit. With the skoda rubber boot liner to, it keeps the mud and fur levels down. It also has a flap covering your bumper when the dogs enter and exit the vehicle :)

Hope that's of some help.

Car also pairs perfectly with my Blackberry, not on the list above

Regarding phones, in addition to those on the list and others mentioned, I have no problem linking my Nokia 6103 and my O2 XDA Orbit II.

John
