PD130 Turbo Rebuild/Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've come across a PD130 turbo (KKK, not Garrett) and manifold for around £50. The turbo is described as having a bent shaft but still spins, and is therefore ideal for overhaul. For me to go any further with my PD100, I'll be needing, at the very least, PD130/150 turbo and injectors. I'm thinking that at that price, it could prove economical (need to research rebuild or even hybrid-ing costs), and if it's not viable then I could move it along again without too much difficulty. Or should I steer well clear?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated. What options do I have?

(And yes, I'm well aware that my car needs to actually be able to run first, which it currently doesn't...stupid electrics!)

you can hybrid the 130 upto around 195-200bhp which would be ideal on your pd100

If the shaft is bent the turbo blades will have contacted the casing. Avoid at all costs, not worth 10p

Intriguing... :o

Oh dear...I take it from the sounds of it, that this wouldn't be something easily/cost-effectively rectified as part of an overhaul then?

If the casing is damaged there's nout left to refurb. It would need a minimum of both compressor wheels, shaft, bearing and seals. Assuming the case is fit for use.

I shall leave well alone then... I have bigger problems at the moment anyway! Thanks for your input, I've not done anything to turbochargers before (unless you count massive ones on a ship...)

Andrew :)
