Another knocking noise question, again!

Featured Replies

Morning peeps!

question and then quick history.

Question- I have a knocking/thud noise coming from my offside rear shock area when I go over speed humps or crap roads but it goes away as you go above 40mph(this could just be down to the road noise increase)

History- I had coilovers fitted  about a couple of months ago and then last week finally got round to popping on a Whiteline 22mm RARB, at first I thought that it was the RARB hitting somewhere but this is a definite NO, as I've had it jacked up 2 or 3 times to tighten up/check the RARB and nothing. If you put weight on the on the back corner and bonce the car the you can make it happen and its only on one side.

Any ideas nice people? I have rotated the springs and still the same.

Cheers in advance

Chris.

Rear beam bush?

Have you checked the coilover, is the damper bolted on correctly at both ends and is the spring seated properly in the cup on the trailing arm?

Was the knocking noise there before you fitted the coil overs or anti roll bar? if so as chicken eyebrow says could be the rear beam bushes. You tend to find upgrading the shocks & springs usally shows up all the other worn suspension bushes etc. If not i would be checking the coil overs & anti roll bar.

The spring is seated correctly and the damper looks like its bolted in right, could be the rear beam bush like you said!
