Bleed Valve

Featured Replies

Hi my octy mk1 vrs has had a stage 1 re-map and is running 215 bhp.She peaks at 18psi and drops to 13psi which she holds at(this is normal with this map im told).i was wondrering if i fit a bleed valve would she hold at 18psi and not drop to 13psi.....what other benefits would i get if i fit one? many thanks in advance.

what kind of bleed valve are you thinking of? I know the TT crowd have used the "Boost Machine" I think there are details on wak-tt.com suposed to be able to stop overboost and initial wastegate creep?

Just let the remap control the boost, at least that way the ECU will provide the correct fuel for the level of boost. If you want a map that holds at 18psi then ditch the stage 1 and get a stage 2 (custom) map and tell the tuner you want it to hold at 18psi

get all the supporting mods so the car can hold the boost better then change the mapping

you will always have the boost drop off

this is because

1. heat soak

2. turbo cant hold it due to restrictions

once you have a stage 2 car then mapping will up the boost but again it should tail off near redline again as a safety net or your turbo will last 5 minutes
