Magnex Decat & Blueflame Catback on vRS

Featured Replies

Morning All,

As above really, I have a Magnex Decat fitted and have a Blueflame Catback system waiting to be fitted- are they compatible?

The Magnex Decat fitted straight into the OEM exhaust, so I'd like to think the Blueflame in turn will fit with the Magnex.

Anyone out there who can help?

Many thanks.

if its same Di across.. its compatable.. long as its for your car.

Cant see any reason why it shouldnt not be compatable

Yes both the decat and catback are specifically for the the Fabia vRS.

I spoke to a chap @ Awesome earlier who said the Blueflame catback will fit to the OEM downpipe, so if my logic is correct- the Magnex Decat fits directly into the OEM catback, so therefore the Magnex and Blueflame components will be compatible, no?

Does this make sense? Anyone else maybe got just a Blueflame catback system on a OEM downpipe? Direct fit??

Thanks.

should fit

only one thats bigger is the Milltek its huge compared to the magnex

I hope it does!

Thanks.

There are two possible types of fitting on the blueflame, A flange fitting and a sleeve and flange fitting.

My 54 reg needed the sleeve fitting but I believe later cars have the flange :giggle:

The sleeve just went on to the oem cat and was clamped tight with a couple of U bolts.

But I'm fairly sure it was slightly tapered too.

I thought the blueflame had a slightly bigger bore size than the oem exhaust but that

could just be my imagination...

I also had to buy a gasket (not supplied) to go between the mating surfaces of the flange.

which was a pig to find at short notice. (Had an hour and a half to find one before the shops closed)

I was on the ramp having it fitted next day at 08.00

Thanks for your reply.

My Blueflame arrived in 2 main pieces with a flange bracket type thing also, along with 2 U bolts, so it sounds like all bases are covered.

Did you get the gasket from Skoda?

whatever you do dont fit the decat......................

sell it to me instead lol :giggle:

The Magnex decat is fitted as mentioned in my first post, my query relates to the correct fitment of the Blueflame catback system to the decat.

No I got it from a place near me that manufactures custom exhaust systems. It was 3quid IIRC

I took that flnge/sleeve thing with me to make sure it fitted and was the correct bore.

Great thanks, I'll get ringing round in the morning then. I really hope it is a straight fit. I'm looking forward to seeing how the car runs with it fitted.

/\ turbo = dead

lol

lets hope not

I shouldn't think so, its a freshly fitted hybrid. But thanks.

ha well it'll be all right then

how nice does a hybrid sound, gives the car some roar and soul :D

mine's feels like its talking / singing to me

Mine sounds quieter than the stock turbo, now that the huge boost leak has been identified and rectified. Engine roar is mighty louder mind. Maybe the Blueflame will cap it off nicely, I hope it does.

If anyone has any more input on the original post I'm all ears

ah right what turbo you using?

mines is a Turbo Dynamics Stage 2 pd150 and it sounds mental!!

Proper roar from it :D

Its an Allard VT2 PD150 Hybrid mate. Before with the stock turbo, owing to the whacking great boost leak, there was a loud whoosh sound on boost and the turbo whistled pretty loud; whereas now no boost leaks are present and the turbo isn't on its way out. So in a way its reassuringly quiet in comparison.

Between 3-5k revs is a different story though, then the engine roars loudly and it pulls like a beast. Lovely.

As I said, I'm hoping the Blueflame will cap it all of nicely with a nice exhaust note under load

maybe its my milltek sports cat and cat back making the growl but im sure its the turbo...

its mental... thats the only way to describe it :D

For anyone wanting the answer to the original question raised in this post, the Magnex Decat is indeed compatible with the Blueflame Catback system.

Ben @ Shark Performance sorted the fitting of it for me on Monday, so a big thanks to him  .

It is exactly what I wanted, barely noticeable at idle and cruising speeds, but makes you aware of its presence when you get your toe down- nice note to it. I personally really like the look of it too.

Thanks for all your responses guys, particularly grr666 reference the gasket- got one the morning after your post  .
