And now for something completely different....

Featured Replies

Whilst taking a break from arguing the toss over alternative energy based sparkplugs, :wonder: I had a look over on rapidshare, trying to find a better set of circuit diagrams than are in the haynes manual. (Preparing to install a car alarm).

In the process, i stumbled accross a number of Felicia manuals (scanned, and saved as pdfs). For the most part they are in czech, however typing bits of them into google translate and cross referencing with haynes still makes them somewhat useful.

However, as:

A/ I'm not entirely sure what the forum admin's stance is on this.

and

B/ As they are presumably copyrighted works, thus opening a can of legal worms if the files were distributed via the forum.

i'm not prepared to post links to them up here as i'd potentially get both myself and the forum in hot water.

However, i'm more than happy to post up the file names.....As if you decide to use google to find them, then that is not the forum's resonsibility. :giggle:

Files i have thus far found on rapidshere are......

If you do decide to go down the google/download route, please be aware of the following:

1/ I haven't yet read all the files, so there are probably some duplicate files listed under different names.

2/ I havent virus-scanned them all yet, so download at your own risk.

Dan.

I've seen the Polish one before, which has some useful diagrams for things Haynes say "you can't do this, take it to a specialist" like wheel alignment. Don't forget this thread, too.

what circuit diagrams you after in particular raven?

what circuit diagrams you after in particular raven?

Tom- if that's an offer ,at present ,I'd like to know the common points for the indicator /hazard circuit . ( For adding remote locking ,with indication -isolation of any sensitive components using diodes to double feed /isolate circuits .-where finding the common points would be a nightmare- bit worried on light of Skoda/Haynes way of showing things with a transistor symbol in -without any indication of components and any risk of damage - )

i'll get back to you on that... binder 4 with all the diagrams is over 300 pages...

Cheers Tom:

1/ Haynes manual mentions a rear courtesy light, triggered by rear doors - but makes no mention of it in circuit diagrams. Not fitted to my vehicle, but would like to know how it's supposed to be wired in, as it isn't mentioned in the official skoda manual (I only have Binder 2 though). Page 12.7,item 6.5 in haynes.

2/ Additionally, i'd like confirmation that the luggage compartment light mentioned in haynes and in wiring diagrams (Page 12.8 item 6.8 and page 12.28 item 123), is a ficticious entry (Deliberatate mistake to protect copyright i expect, as way it is wired makes no sense. Again, not fitted to my felly, and isn't mentioned in binder 2).

Thanks,

Dan.

PS,

Aside from watching ebay for any that come up, is there anywhere else that the various binders of the official manual may be obtained from.....or downloaded from?

I have binder 2, and would like to aquire the rest....

binder 2? that's the fitting locations one isn't it?

i'm pretty certain that only the estate models after 1999 had a rear luggage compartment light (ie: facelift models)

i'll have a look and get back to you soon

Running gear

Suspension

Electrical Systems

Nope- mine's a post facelift estate but has no luggage compartment light.

In any case, if the haynes manual wiring diagram is to be believed, then it would only be operable when sidelights are on! (it shows it as switched locally, but taking power from the taillight circuit).

Am wondering if the rear courtesy light is specific to the SLXi? I have blanking plugs where the door switches would be for the rear doors...

luggage compartment light, says october 96 to december 97 in the contents...

number 6 on here is where the rear luggage compartment lamp attaches... it's not 100% clear how it wires works, but i'm pressuming that there is a small additional loom which plugs in here and the lamp is wired via the tailgate contact switch, so i reckon one of these wires will be a live and one will be earth, and the swtich in the tailgate makes and breaks the circuit

can't find any mention of a rear courtesy light at the moment, but i'll look more in depth later

those are for the central locking system only afaik

hmm i wonder if the connectors are present in the wiring loom, even if they are not utilised, for the rear door contacts? Wiring loom is a standard part, so it would make sense if they were....i might have a look tomorrow.

100_0059.jpg

100_0061.jpg

wiring behind the kick panels on the base of the A pillar.... white and brown are front and rear speakers, 2x large connectors are for the rear wiring loom, 1x large for front door loom, the small black connector(cannot be seen in the top pic becuase it's obscured by the wires) is for the rear door central locking motor actuators... the red is for the door open contact, all of the door contact switches are wired in parallel to each other so afaifk there's no way for the car to know which door is open, you could do some trickery with the wiring but i'm not going to comment on how to do that

Well mine's got a fancy automatic light in the boot :D I'm sure earlier (pre-facelift?) models had a manually-switched boot light - I've seen a photo somewhere but can't remember where. That would appear to be what the Haynes manual shows as well. As for rear door switches, the instructions for my remote locking kit imply they were a dealer-fitted option. My otherwise fully-loaded SLXi certainly doesn't have them.

Dan - I fitted my remote locking kit today, with everything functioning as intended. I was planning to post a guide with photos and details, but I think that'll happen tomorrow...
