Every cloud

Featured Replies

Today I drove about 300 miles and apart from 10 miles of traffic jams it was a blast. There is fun to be had out there if you drive a well built, well sorted car even one with relatively little power. Today I used my good lady's FIAT 500, not a squeak, not a rattle, decent seats and an eager 1.2 litre engine allied to fantastic go-cart handling. Wouldn't want to do it often but after the tribulations of the Yeti it was good to drive a car I can say I REALLY like.

Despite a lot of thrashing it seems to have burned less than 25 litres of fuel, didn't have time to refuel it tonight.

I am told that by Monday I need to have my car or a loan car. The other cloud around the silver lining is that I have to clean it!

I am sure that this is true for you and the little Fiat does make me smile whenever I see them....but you are saying this to an audience of people, like myself, largely consisting of owners who have well built Yetis and no grudge to bear. I sympathise with your plight but are you expecting a load of people to say, yes, you are right, I'll trade my Yeti in for a Fiat 500? Not sure the purpose of your post here my friend....

Sounds like your having a BLAST :giggle:

That wasn't my point - just that in the whole mass of needless stress about the Yeti it was good to go out in a well sorted car. My opinion of the FIAT and the Yeti are unchanged from yesterday.

Of course it's not a Skoda I'm praising......

I was one of the many who owned an original 500C back in the 60s - and totally loved the thing, even though it stopped firing on one of its two cylinders in the middle of Piccadilly Circus, and could only go "phut-phut-phut" on the remaining one at about 2 miles an hour!!

Well done you for enjoying trouble-free, grin-inducing motoring! Keep it up!

George

Well some friends of mine bought a FIAT Panda 4x4 earlier this year, rejected it after 3 weeks, had it replaced without arguement, and are currently driving around in a loan car because the relacement has now failed!!
