Warranty Periods

Featured Replies

Vauxhall now have a life time warranty, Kia and Hyundai five and seven year warranties - that is starting to leave VAG, Ford et al looking a bit out of step. Many company car buyers and private motorists will start thinking that the extended warranty should be a norm and perhaps if VAG won't extend their warranty to match then maybe their quality claims are a suspect.

Would an extended warranty influence anyones buying decision??

Only if the inevitable restrictions/conditions were reasonable

Do folks realise that the Vauxhall lifetime warranty only applies to the first owner (and 100k mile limit)? Not that many buyers buy a car for life......

Most of these 5 and 7 year warranties are the same as every other manufacturer with the exception that they will cover the oily parts for a few years more. They usually use drivetrains that are well proven so it isn't much of a risk to them.

And most Hyundais and Kias aren't exactly motorway killing rep fodder are they? Most of them pootle around town with maybe the odd longer journey here and there to see the grandkids :smirk:

As with ALL manufacturer warranties, the Vauxhall 'lifetime' warranty is riddled with T's & C's.

Now offer a lifetime warranty with unlimited mileage and you are getting somewhere......... :giggle:

My 1999 octavia estate was sold with 3 years unlimited mileage warranty and free servicing. This was the time when Skoda had seriously upped their game (one of the first Octavia estates I think). Shame they no longer have the confidence in their own product.

Yes both my Octavia I's came with the balance of 3 years unlimited mileage plus breakdown; they were built like tanks mind :) Still think there probably one of Skoda's best designs alongside the Monster obviously

In DK, currently, Octavia, Yeti and Superbe come with 2 year unlimited and 4 year 100,000 km limited warranty. Strangely, the Fabia does not? I suspect this is a marketng move, as the Fabia sells like hot cakes.
