VRS Estate ride height & where find standard springs

Featured Replies

I'm looking to change my Octy Mk 1 VRS Estate suspension but first I need to check if I'm sagging - I seem to ground the front spoiler very easily - and where I can get standard springs from (plenty of lowering ones about, but standard?):

B) Can anyone tell me what the standard dimensions for the VRS ride height are & how to measure them?

B) Does anyone know where I can get standard springs apart from a dealer?

I've drawn a blank with searches and weeks of hunting for another on the streets to measure (no VRS let alone Estates). My brain hurts.

Cheers, Ian

i can go and measure mine up tomorrow

Got my rear spings from my local motor factors a couple of weeks ago mine's a hatch tho. Don't know if they do estates.

When I got my lowered 4x4 estate wheel alignment done the values for a standard vRS ride height were, front 374mm, rear 359mm. Pretty sure you need to measure from the centre of the wheel to the lip of the wheel arch.

Guys, thanks.

I've just measured the vertical distance from the centre of the wheel to the wheel arch:

F: 362 mm R: 360 mm

So, comparing to Simon's figures, my front is 14 mm low (just over half an inch) and my rear is about right - it looks as if my front is sagging (ooer, Missis).

I measured mine a while back - front was 650mm from the floor, rear 665mm.

2004 vRS Estate with standard suspension and 96,000km on the clock.

Which motor factors? i have a account with pages & i am going to have to replace my suspension soon & dont want coil overs. how much were your springs?

York motor factors about £88, pages does them but slightly more expensive

Thanks for that,im changing the shocks as well so will ring round & get some prices & decide whats best.

At 3rd look at Euro Car Parts site I finally found springs, approx £200 for set of 4.

Also found H&R springs, claimed for Saloon & Estate 20 mm lower, on eBay at around £200 delivered. As I'm told that the Estate is half an inch (12 mm) lower the resultant ride height might be OK.

Koni FSDs are around £460 delivered if you shop around.
