Engine management light

Featured Replies

Afternoon ladies and gents,

Got a new one today, my engine management light has come up and is perplexing me somewhat. My mates code reader says the fault is showing as camshaft value exceeded, I will try and stick another code reader on and see what it says, the car seems to be running ok bar the light, any ideas? (I recently had my cambelt and water pump changed but have had the timing checked and all seems fine)

Thanks

Maybe a damaged camshaft sensor or loom? or just a bad connection. It seems a bit of a coincidence that the light has come on after the work carried out.

I had the crank shaft sensor code on mine and I think I nearly stalled the car when it came on, deleted it and I've had nowt come on since

I deleted the code and it was fine got a week then

It's popped up again. Think it's time for a new sensor.

Usually when the belt is a tooth out it throws a correlation fault between the crank and cam sensors. This fault usually pops up after a few minutes driving and again very shortly after it has been cleared.

I'm thinking that it could be an oil pressure problem. These engines are not unknown for blocking their oil strainers and the hydraulically operated variable valve timing at the top of the engine will be one of the first things to be affected.
