Hello everybody. Today I got my brand new Octavia 1.4TSi Ambient with DSG7 trans. I also own a cheap Vag-Com cable from ebay that I use to datalog my Subaru Impreza STi. I would like to use this cable and the free RossTech Vag-Com (I think 409) to change/enable some features in my Octavia. I'm looking to enable auto-locking/unlocking, follow home light (from and to home), lowering the mirror when put into R (is possible), single door lock, and others.... I never worked with Vag-Com. Please let me know where to start

I tried working with my cable and the only controler I managed to read was the Auto Trans..... Al other modules wont read: it tries several times but than I get an error.

I will try contacting the local VAG club to see if someone has a normal cable.

Meanwhile, I have a questions about which "features" and how to enable them. Here is a list of what features I want:

1. Puddle lights

2. Coming/leaving home

3. Auto lock/unlock doors

4. Single door lock

5. I want the car to "beep" when I lock/unlock it (currently it just blinks with the lights)

6. There is a feature in which one of the mirrors moves down when the R gear is On (allows easier parking).

Which out of these features are just "software" and which needs a hardware modifications? On this forum I found the info about how to enable the 1-4 things, but I dont know how to the 4 and 5.....

The Auto Trans must have a K line wire for diagnosis if it communicated. All other modules, including the trans, will communicate using the Gateway and the CAN Bus network.

Most of those tweaks are mentioned in my Vortex thread, linked in my Signature. I will comment on the Mirror down in reverse, this requires high line window motors and a mirror assembly capable of memory operation. You can code 09 to enable this, and add it to the window motor coding, but I wouldn't expect it to work until the hardware is upgraded. If you have a scan from a genuine VCDS system in the future, please post it so we can see what this car is made of.
