Wheel Bolts

Featured Replies

Not really a Fabia 1 question but anyway hopefully someone may know the answer to this question!

Can anyone tell me the difference between the earlier wheel bolts like this:

and the later VAG ones that require an Allen Key/ Hex to undo them. (just about abke to see them in pic below):

The reason i need to know is that i am looking to fit some 2006 MY VAG wheels onto a 2004 MY car. The wheels when fitted to the

2006 MY car (exactly the same car as 2004 MY) has the Allen/Hex bolts, yet the car they are going to be fitted to has wheels that

presently have the normal 'old' type of bolt as detailed above.

As I am not sure the differences between these can anyone tell me the differences in these bolts and why VAG changed to the

newer types. Does the Octavia II & Fabia II have these newer types of bolts?

What I really want to know is can I use the earlier bolts on the newer post '05 alloys??

Any info gratefully received.

Hope I havent confused any one too much with my description!

Those are just the covers aren't they? I am sure underneath the covers they have the same 17mm headed steel bolts.
