New vRS Has Arrived!

Featured Replies

Ordered my Octavia vRS Diesel CR DSG (the wife can only drive automatic cars) in Red on May 10th, only options added were auto lights/dimming mirrors & rear sensors. Build week was August 9th, and it was delivered to the dealer yesterday.

Going to sort out finances tomorrow, then picking it up the next week on a shiny new '60' plate. So unbelievably excited!

If anybody sees a bright red vRS in or around Wimbledon, London, it'll probably be me.

Plans are to get it detailed in the next few weeks by Baker21 (thanks in advance) and then head off for a long trip down to Cornwall.

Anybody got any words of wisdom on running in the engine? The simpler the better.

Good choice!

With regards running in - quite simply dont!

Just check the oil temp on the maxidot and when its passed 80C just go through the gears going through the whole rev range. This beds things in better apparently. Seems to have worked on mine as it hasn't used a drop of oil in 6.5k miles.

Just don't be silly ragging the nuts off it.

I'll be in Windsor in a couple of weekends so you may see another bright red VRS driving around!

Nice one. Get some pictures up when you get it

As for running in, I tend to subscribe to this school of thought:

Running In

Cheers,

Steve

I ran mine in as per the manual and it's absolutely fine.

I regularly put her in manual mode and flick her through the gears up to 4500rpm.

She's got 2200 miles on the clock now and the oil level is still at the top; plus she's averaging between 45 and 50mpg (not less than 550 miles per tank so far).

the wife can only drive automatic cars

Sounds a perfect reason to buy a manual to me! :giggle:

nice one, another new vrs owner in red off to sort my finances tomorrow. its been a long dam wait but i think we will both be over the moon.

mine was an ex demonstrator so i guess that no running in would have been done. Ive done 6000 miles since though and the engine is as sweet as a nut!

I just drove conservatively (i.e. 80 or so when possible and accelerating briskly but not boy racer style) but I still used the kickdown every now and again even during the first 2000 miles, sometimes unexpectedly, but the engine has over 10,000 miles and although I will change the oil now it is still remarkably clean and importantly has not required a drop of topping up.
