couple of questions about tool sizes

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've just got an 03 Skoda Fabia 1.4 Classic. We're looking at doing some basic servicing over this weekend so we know where it's up to (the service history has nothing recorded for 3 years, but minimal mileage too). So, a couple of questions if anyone can help,

- the sump plug needs a key to remove it - does anyone have any idea of what size this is?

- to get the engine cover off it appears to have a nut under the badge bit - does anyone know what size this is?

thanks

if it is the same as the diesels then to remove the engine cover, hold the front edge and lift up, then pull it forward off the back support

don't be affraid it will take a good tug up to release it from the front

the sump plug on the wifes 53 fabia VRS is a 19mm socket to undo it, not done a 1.4

By the sounds of it its and MPi.

10mm nut under the badge, and another 10mm under a cap at the back and its lifts up.

Oil filter is just a regular filter at the front of the block.

Sump plug if original is a 6mm allen key iirc, either that or 8mm, cant for the life of me remember.

thanks, seem to have got the basics done now (well hubby did mostly!), after a trip out for tools this morning!

For anyone else that was looking for the same info as me, the vRS oil filter housing requires a 32mm socket! I bought a laser one today for about £5.50
