Horn off when main switch off

Recommended Posts

The other day while sitting inside the car, parked with the ignition off and shuffling some papers, the guy infront started backing up and almost hit me. I started desperately pressing the horn and, surpise!, no sound.emoticon-0104-surprised.gif I had to open the door and yell at the guy!.

Is this supposed to be the correct behaviour for the horn?

Is there any way to enable the horn even when the keys are not in the ignition switch?

Regards.

Stupid!! It doesn't work on my Scout neither. What if a nice chick passes by, and i want to "horn" her quickly? Ignition on too late. You know being a bit of a farmboy this is not good ;)

Yes normal. I don't know why but that is the case in my Mk.2 FL Octavia, and my previous 2 Mk.4 VW Golf's and Mk.1 Seat Leon

I guess on this side of the world we are too used to japanese cars.... this is my first european, so there are things that I just don't find logical. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Thanks for the reply haithamali.
