Water ingress on a 2006 VRS?

Featured Replies

Hi,

new guy here. I bought a 2006 VRS yesterday. I gather the water ingress problem is a popular headache...

When I went to view the car, it had damp carpets. However it was clear that they had been steam cleaned that morning for viewing.

What are the chances that a 2006 VRS with 60k on the clock is likely to suffer???

I pick the car up on Sunday...

Cheers

Very high chance :|

I had them on a 57plate vrs.

It's a design fault. There are some very handy guides on the website as to how to fix it. I've done it to both of my vRS cars and it's a real novice job to be honest. Takes about 2 hours to complete both rear doors. Costs about £10 for the stuff.

Job done.

Don't think it's so much a question of if, but when.. It's my understanding the sealent used becomes pourus as it ages and becuase it's foam based the water starts to find it's way through.

Both my rear doors went last year (04 plate).. My fronts followed.. My drivers door needs doing again but I'm not sure exactly where the leak is coming from as don't believe It's the seal.. my passenger side however had a new door carrier fitted and this replaces the seal by default for a nice new one.. that's been completely water tight ever since.. so on an 06 car you may find it's still water tight and will be for a few more years :)
