Hi . I have a skoda fabia comfort 2001 . Does anyone know if there is suppost to be some kind of warning on this model ,if I fail to put the seat belt on .? At the moment the seat belt logo come on when I turn on the ignition and goes off when Istart the car without any seat belt on. If there is an alarm for the seat belt is it on the same circuit as leaving lights on audible sound , because that works fine ,so presume the fuse is ok. Thanks

I don't think that the Fabia 1 has an audible seat belt alarm.

The manual states:

Seat belt warning light* 

The warning light  comes on for a few seconds after the ignition is switched on as

a reminder to fasten the seat belt.

If you do not fasten the seat belt, a long warning signal sounds for 6 seconds.

The asterisk indicates:

Equipment which is marked * is only standard on certain vehicle model

versions or only suppliable as optional equipment for certain models

My 2007 vRS doesn't have a seat belt warning light - are you sure yours does? Or are you mistaking the Aigbag light?

I think the light just comes on when you turn on the ignition to remind you about seatbelts and that is it. I remember my old Metro had the light and that came on when you did not have it on with ignition and/or engine on.

On later Fabia's the warning sound comes on only after reaching a speed of around 20mph. Bewow that, it is silent, to allow reversing, etc as you are allowed, by law, to reverse without a seatbelt. Try leaving the belt off and driving up to 30mph!

The wording appears to be "A person driving a vehicle while performing a manoeuvre which includes reversing; " - which can be interpreted thus: "This means that if you are doing a 3 point turn, you do not have to wear a seat belt at any point during the course of the manoeuvre but you must wear it as soon as the manoeuvre is concluded". So you can legally drive forwards without wearing a belt...

Honest officer - I was manoeuvring to work and as part of that manoeuvre I reversed out of my parking space, hence the reason I'm not wearing my belt several miles later... :S
