vRS Upholstery

Featured Replies

Dear All

** Before I ask the question I cannot see any hope with my complaint, but if you don’t have a go you will never know! **

I have a Fabia vRS and it is coming up to four years old.

Last year I asked you Briskodians about a lump which had formed in the dense foam of the driver’s seat. And this was starting to rub the grey material thin.

To be exact it is in the kidney support area. Anyhow.

I got an answer from one person who said that everybody had experienced bobbling in this area.

Twelve months later this crease has rubbed the material that thin that it is now a small hole in the material.

I know some may be thinking well it is four years old and things/materials don’t last forever! And that may be the case but I hardly use the car, sometimes twice a week at the most three times a week.

It has just hit 27,000 miles in four years so the car is under the average mileage!

Even though the car is out of warranty and perhaps the upholstery may not have been covered, do I have any rights to complain to Skoda/Volkswagen?

I would take it up/enquire with the main dealer but past experiences with this group have led to me being ripped off by these people who are quite frankly are about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

If I could approach Skoda/VW then I do need to be armed with as much info as poss!

Seriously, any advice would be gratefully appreciated!

Many thanks

David

David,

I really don't know but the sale of goods act may be able to help you. Do some digging. That's low mileage for such damage in my opinion and the seat material should probably last 60/70k miles before it's knackered otherwise I'd say it's not fit for purpose. Try an enquiry with Skoda UK, you maybe able to get them to accept it should have lasted longer and they may replace FOC or at least pay towards the repair.

Best of luck
