Delivery times and sunroof

Featured Replies

I'm looking to order a new Superb estate next week. Before going ahead, two points I needed answered by SUK concerned the delivery time and the availability of the much discussed panoramic sunroof. I phoned them yesterday, answers as follows:

1. Official delivery time is now quoted at 19 to 20 weeks. This means that a car ordered now will likely be arriving mid January 2011. Apparently irrespective of options chosen as nothing in the current brochure is causing any further delay. I was told the factory is building them as fast as they can, the delay is due to demand exceeding supply.

2. Skoda definately have plans to reintroduce the Pan roof as soon as possible due to numerous enquiries after it was removed from the options list. Probably early next year but, for anyone interested, make your dealer aware that you want this option and they should get a bulletin from Skoda advising them when the roof is again available to order. Depending on how close you are to build you may be able to add this option to your order.

Further to the above I see that the SUK comparitor is now back on line (it only took about 2 years to fix it).

All UK cars can be spec'd and this includes the Superb estate with the pan roof.

The price is £950 so they haven't missed the opportunity to have a price increase.

Tends to support what I posted above about SUK reintroducing the roof to the options list next year and even though they haven't got pan roofs to fit now they are hoping they will have by Jan 2011?

Would anyone care to bet against build dates being put back yet again?

According to Skoda Norway and our dealer the build time is related to specs and engine type. For example, the new factory that will produce the Superb with the new 1.6 CR engine is scheduelled to start production not earlier than mid- or late september this year. We ordered 1 of august and have been told that the earliest delivery month could be january 2011, but more realistically would be march 2011, in other words about 6 months.

I don't doubt what you are saying about longer delivery times for the 1.6 cr (which is a new engine installation for the Superb).

I probably should have clarified that I was enquiring about the established 170cr.

Visited Silbury Skoda today. Ordered the following: Superb estate Elegance 170CR 4x4 manual: Aqua blue with Ivory leather/ black carpets. Various options inc sunset glass, parking sensors, sound system, HFS etc. Didn't bother with the park assist as I had this on my last Superb and never used it once. The sensors are useful though.

Estimated delivery mid Jan 2011. Definately unable to order the pan roof at this stage but dealer will let me know if this situation changes before my car gets too close to its build date to allow me to add this option.

Dealer agreed with me, whats the point in having an option on the configurator when you can't order it.

Other errors on the configurator include showing a retractable parcel shelf (really a boot cover) available for £50. it's fitted as standard. Also config. doesn't show option of heated washer jets for £35. These are still available (and essential if last winter is anything to go by)

I also asked the dealer to supply a net pack for the boot and a set of 'premium mats'. If you get these as factory options Skoda thoughtfully charge £30 and £9 more respectively for the same items!

For anyone interested in the 'KESSY' option (I didn't go for it) I saw the dealer bulletin which advised that ordering this would cause a longer delivery time (it didn't say how much longer or why)

Hope that helps.
