weitec coilovers

Featured Replies

i'm getting my coilovers fitted a week on tuesday and was wondering if i should remove the rear adjuster cup to take it that bit lower.

has anybody got any pictures of their VRS on weitec coilovers wound right down with

the adjuster cup still in and any with the adjuster cup removed.

edit * think ive worded it wrong i mean the adjuster cup nuts. *

don't remove it!!

ride is horrible, crashy bumpy

i'd suspect you'd wreck the shockers in no time too!!

also therese the MOT, it will fail with no adjuster!

and the safety aspect!!

the spring is not secure! which means it can pop out over a bump for example!!

a big NO NO!!!

cheers for the reply bud thats the kind of stuff i was wanting to no about.

I'm guessing you'll end up riding on the bump stops.

I've got weitecs on mine and dont have the rear adjusters in (taken out by previous owner)

The ride seems fine and the rear shocks are still like new, they have been in 2 years that I've had the car and I think they were on another fabia for about a year previously and they dont have any leaks and still have a fair amount of pressure in them when I removed them recently to put new bumpstops in :)

MOT wise, mine has passed 2 years with no mention of the adjusters being out and it was mot'd at a main dealer aswell !!!

when jacking up the back do the springs not 'pop' out as there is no load on them?

they did when i had vmaxx and tried it

Iv not got the same coilovers, so they might be different, but iv had no adjuster cups in for a year or so. Passed mot ok :-/ chrisw_vrs has none on his kw's also. But as I said, might be different depending on the kit.

I havent had both wheels jacked up at the same time just one side at a time and the springs havent fallen out.

i've still got the screwthread attached to mine but i've screwed the actual adjuster right off. rides fine although the jabba RARB was hitting off the backbox till Mr 4lb hammer sorted that out! lol

Jabba run them without the cups too, im close to removing the ajuster cups just to give that extra drop :giggle:

it has crossed my mind also, but i would have my mate make some sort of custom seat for the spring to sit on nicely emoticon-0148-yes.gif although i dont think ill bother at the moment its low enuff on the modern british roads....

this thread is worthless without pics lol

Ah right i see what ur saying about taking the thread part off but leave the cup

I might try this! Would give an extra 10mm possibly

I had both removed and when jacked up springs would fall out - not good!

yeah it lowers it about 15 - 20 mm more. i did have the cup completely out and i had the same problem

Would the spring not then rattle around the threads of the cup and knacker the threads?

anyone got any pictures since i did ask lol

Just noticed on mine the cups that thread on the bottom of the springs aren't actually on !

Never had any problems with the rear suspension so its all good :)
