Intro & Questions

Hi Guys

You ladies won't take offence at that will you? Please, its a generic term and I can't stand this pc nonsense.

I found your terrific site on Christmas day (from the toll road article in AutoExpress). And I've been a Fabia owner for three years! Must use the search engines more.

I've been trying to log on since then. But to no avail. Many thanks, Colin, for sorting it for me.

OK intro first. I'm an adi (approved driving instructor) so you won't expect me to go into print over national speed limit-plus driving will you? And I'm the original mechanical thicko so mapping and lowering, or whatever, is way out of my league. I'm interested in driving!

My first Fabia was the 2 Litre petrol, elegance trim. Anybody here had one? still run one? Towards the end of the year it was approaching 120K and I decided to trade it in for a vRS. The 2 Litre had served me well. The only expense other than consumables (brakes, tyres etc.) was the lambda sensors (whatever they are).

So now the comparisons between my two Fabias. Performance on paper, particularly in my job, is pretty much the same. 0-60 vRS 9.5 (2.0 9.9) max speed 128 (121). The selling point was ofcourse the mpg. Over 50+ on a run with me, not the little darlings, at the wheel!

So what don't I like? The amount of muck thrown up on the back. Do they really not make mud-flaps? Two electric windows rather than four. The 'door/boot open' lights only work when the ignition is on. Bit late to discover that isn't it? And where is the service indicator? I was interested to read the threads on that. And, yes,I am worried about the light grey seats. Anybody know of a scotchguard process?

Finally tyres. The vRS came with Continental SportContact 2. I was running Bridgestone Potenzas on the 2 Litre. Any advice in this area will be gratefully received before replacement time.

Sorry to drone on, but there is so much I need to learn from this forum.

Drive responsibly!

Larry

Nice to see Colins advertising pulled off :D

Welcome to Briskoda.net.

Welcome to the community Larry, hope the magazine article didn't give the wrong impression of briskoda.

You are not the only professional driving instructor on briskoda :) Sure others will be along to introduce themselves shortly.

Hello and Welcome.:D

Welcome on board - wonder if that marketing caused our bandwidth explosion last night!
