New Honda Civic's are wearing a bit thin...

Featured Replies

Just wondered your opinion on this. When I first saw the new Civic - with the chrome wrap-around front and from the future styling, I found myself looking at my Fabia and thinking it looked a bit staid in comparison. How can a car be so 'futuristic' I thought and to be honest I was quite wowed.

Sadly though, that feeling has now gone. I see so many Civic's of that design (always black, with obligatory dried on dirt) that I have started to tire of the chrome effect plastic and acres of perspex. What will the future hold I wonder? Those glossy looks have already faded with one or two Winters worth of grime. I cannot see them aging well.

Owners should at least keep them clean, polished and looked after.

Have you seen the new dark blue colour? (at least I think its new as I've never seen that colour before until recently) They look very good..

I dont like the orange/mud/poo colour though, it looks old very quickly when not washed..

Anything that is super modern always dates super fast.

With a few exceptions - Mk1 Focus, Sierra

Not just with cars either.

Those people fitting purple glossy kitchens, not going to look nice in 10yr.

I drove a new Civic before I bought the Octy. I was most underwhelmed by it.

My Father-in-law has one in Silver 57 plate IIRC and IMHO it really isn't ageing well compared to our 07 plate Octy. The exterior looks OK but as soon as you open the door with the cheap plastic handle, get inside and hear the interior rattle and see the scuffed hard plastic you soon realise that they really aren't a quality product. I'm not really sure why people rave about them so much as to my mind the older breadvan civic was a far nicer car that was better built and is a far better long-term proposition (my mum has an 03 that despite being much older is much better than my father-in-laws).
