I am having touble locating a 5 speed manual gearbox for my Skoda octavia sdi 1.9 diesel 2001-Y

I was wondering if anyone knows which other gearbox if any of the skoda/vw/audi/seat range of gearboxes will fit it.

Talking to various beakers yards they say the tdi's won't fit, but one of the golf/boras should but they won't commit them selves in case the ratios are wrong.

The SDi uses the 02K gearbox (backwards clutch design like the old ones used in Maestro's. Im probably guessing the roll pin in the diff has sheared off and the whole lot has tried to exit the bottom of the box.

Best advice is try a gearbox recon shop of something. Dont fit another scrapper box or you'll be in the same position again very soon. If you pay up and get a recon box you at least get a warranty with it.
