Scout Scuff Plate Paint Colour?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what colour the 'very thin' paint on the Scout scuff plates is? I am assuming they are all the same colour (pre- facelift)?

I reversed into a gravel bank whilst turning on an Alpine track this summer and it has left some annoying scratches. Chips away wanted £150 plus vat to fix it, but I recon I can do a reasonable job given the right colour.

Paint is very thin I noticed, especially for what is a high impact area, also I am sure that I read somewhere in a brochure that they were aluminium. They are not they are plastic!

indeed.

aluminium effect

Hmmm - I noticed today that the sump guard is plastic on my facelift one too - the reference to the steel sump guard seems to have gone from the brouchure. All in the name of weight reduction I guess...

They've never been steel, always plastic - I noticed that on the brochure too when I got mine 3 years ago.

The undertray is plastic but the sumpguard depends on whether its a diesel or not. Our diesel 4x4 certainly has a metal sumpguard and plastic undertray but I think the petrols only get the undertray because of underbonnet temperatures.
