Yet another teething problem with my Fabia! :0(

Featured Replies

Pulled on my drive earlier and noticed my brake lights are stuck on. Have checked bulbs and replaced the brake light switch. Seemed to do the trick.

Drove the car earlier about 5 miles and thier stuck on again.

The only way to stop this is by removing the brake light fuse. Not ideal though. Even when the brake light switch is removed but the fuse left in they are still on.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Look forward to your replys.

If there's a new switch in, then the next thing to check will be the relay. I think it's one of the ones above the driver's right knee...

AFAIK there is no relay for the brake lights, power is fed straight from the pedal switch. It is highly unlikely the lights are receiving power from an extraneous source (without other electrical gremlins) so the switch is at fault.

Does the brake pedal push the plunger on the switch in the at rest position? The switches are supposed to auto adjust when installed, but there is a rather tricky procedure to follow when installing them. See http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1158315

Well I never...
