Three New Skoda Models

Featured Replies

Sorry if there has already been a post mentioning this, but I haven't yet noticed it.

My dealer informs me that there are three new models joining the lineup in 2005 as well as the Octy Mk2 Estate:

1. A Fabia Sport joining the vRS (I guess this is normal one wit body kit?)

2. An Octavia Mk2 Sport [body kit like fabia] (still no mention of new vRS???)

3. An Octavia Mk2 L&K - After seeing the new Elegance.... god knows what they have added to the new L&K.... gonna be very nice id imagine! If only they wud chuck the Superb's 2.8 V6 growler in the front!

Looking gd for the new year

I went to dealers last week and picked up brochure for the new Octy Estate, now, reading through this, I see there is a factory fitted towbar listed as optional extra, great thinks I....looks like I could be havin a new Estate soon, then I looks a little closer and theres one of thos little o thingies at side of it, so, looks down at bottom to see what the o means...guess what..

"Not suitable for towing caravans"

:confused::confused::(:(

ah well, have to see if I can find an nice new old model L&K somewhere

but I wonder how many people will buy and not notice that ??

Not for caravans... are they crazy!!! Whole point of being able to tow things! Im sure there must be a clause somewhere... old octy had no dificulties.... unless they are going to fit towbar with that strength to new Octy 4X4 when it arrives... that could be a clever way of selling more of them?

I'm sure it's not the towbar but the "towing kit" that is not suitable for vans, ie they only wire a single socket for lights etc, not 12v feed for fridge etc.

You right Ian, the bar itself will be no different.

It will be the electrics.

Heres a pic of the new Fabia Sport thats comming alongside the vRS.

Its going to have a 1.4 16v 75 BHP Engine, Sports Styling, Front fogs, spoiler and sports seats etc.

It looks no different from the general facelifted Fabia to me.

From the outside it's a Fabia Classic with fog lights, alloys, rear spioler and stainless rear silencer.

Doesn't even have painted mirrors or door protectors that the Ambient trim has.

Cheers

I found this article on the autocar website: -

Quote "Skoda is planning a small run of World Rally Championship-edition Fabias with the awesome styling of its WRC car. Skoda chairman Detlef Wittig recently said the company is keen to make the most of its rally championship participation in 2005 by bringing

It might also have 100 bhp 16v and 100 bhp TDI options like in Europe. Otherwise, I'd have to say its a bit misleading to call it "Sport".

Reply from Skoda customer services.....

Thank you for your e-mail. The towing kit supplied by the factory in the Czech Republic has a 13 pin connection. We are currently working with a UK company to provide a kit that is compatible with the twin 7 pin connection in the UK. We should be able to provide a suitable towing kit shortly.

We are currently evaluating the New Octavia vRS Estate. Please maintain contact with your local Skoda retailer and our web site as the situation develops.

It is the electrics, the Mk 2 Skoda has the CANBUS electric system and the electrics for the towbar have by all accounts been a nightmare to adapt through this system.
