Scout Tyre Pressures

Featured Replies

Noticed a tyre looked a little flat on my Scout this morning so nipped out to the garage to pump it up.

Just curious what pressures other Scout owners are running?

The data on the inside of the flap offers two different engine types (2.0 - 103kW & 2.0 110kW), two different wheel diameters (16" & 17") and two different loads (normal or full).

I wasn't sure which 'kW' engine I have so opted for the 110kW.

I know the alloys are 17" and the car very rarely carries more than one adult and the boot is always empty so I went for the middle ground, 2.5 bar up front and 2.8 bar at the back.

I also noticed that the recommendation for an empty car has the fronts harder than the rears, yet when laden the rears should be harder than the fronts.

The ride certanly feels a little harder, should I stick to the recommended 2.2 bar on the front and 2.1 and the back?

103 Kw equates to 140bhp, 110 Kw equates to 150bhp if that helps.

Thanks Andy,

Guessing 110kW was my first mistake then!

I've always put 2.1 all round on mine - always seems to be the best for grip & comfort for me

Interesting - the pressures seem to have changed with the facelift.

For 103kW, 2.2 bar all round is recommended for normal use (the pictogram shows 3 adults plus luggage). For full load it rises to 2.4 front and 3.0 rear but the pic shows 5 adults and enough luggage to sink the Ark Royal...

I have mine at 2.2 bar / 32 psi all round as the filler cap.

Looking at the deflection of the tyres, I'm happy with that - have a look at Pic 8 @ http://s801.photobucket.com/albums/yy291/Leslie_Newman/Octavia%20Scout%20Facelift%20September%202010/?action=view&current=IMG_0236ed-1.jpg#!oZZ8QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs801.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fyy291%2FLeslie_Newman%2FOctavia%2520Scout%2520Facelift%2520September%25202010%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DIMG_0254ed.jpg%26

Thanks Les,

Perhaps this may be to do with a change of tyres?

My 2008 pre-FL has Dunlop Sports on (still on original tyres).

Does your brand new Scout use different tyres?

Does your brand new Scout use different tyres?

Mine was delivered with Dunlop Sport 01 225/50R17 94W.

I'm wondering if the slight adjustment is to do with a change in weight distribution with a different engine (CR vs PD) and removal of the spare wheel in base spec. Certainly some tinkering going on.

Good point, never thought of that.

Think I may be running a little hard, another trip back to Sainsbury's tomorrow :giggle:

Interesting the Scout is back on Dunlops. I am sure I remember a thread earlier in the year where the very first FL Scouts came shod with Pirelli's?

I've played around with the pressures a bit and am now running my 2010 140pd scout at 33psi front 35 rear which seems to give a good compromise between handling and ride.

Mark,

Is yours on the Dunlop’s too?

I've definitely over cooked it with 35 and 40 PSI then...

Am running Kuhmos on mine at the mo with pressures as per the fuel flap ( tow a caravan too ). Seem quieter than the Dunlops, seem to be wearing ok and were only £91 a corner. Will see how they perform over the winter.

Hi,

mine's on the Dunlops
